  • 1.  Importing 2012 5yr geography file into Access

    Does anybody have advice or experience importing the geography file for the 2012 5-yr ACS data into Access 2007? I'm having trouble parsing out the correct fields.

    Any advice would be much appreciated.

    I think there is a csv option. But if you want the geography file headers you need to first pull them in to the geography template at www2.census.gov/.../2012_Summary_FileTemplates.zip.

    If you navigate to the User Tools folder you can find the 2012_Summary_FileTemplates.zip file referenced by Marta.

    I was able to track down the file and discovered that it is an excel file that contains only the field names and field aliases. However, I imported the text file following the field size and position using the Tech Doc (pg. 10-12) to create the geography file in the structure that I needed.
