  • 1.  Does a release schedule exist for GDB data?

    Does anyone know for sure if Census plans to continue to release the GDBs? If so, does a release schedule exist?

    I noticed that the GDB files are not listed on ACS Data Release schedules, only their tabular data products are listed. From the FTP site, I see the release dates of the following 5-yr files:

    2012-2016 files were released on Feb. 27th, 2018.
    2011-2015 files were released on Mar. 7th, 2017.
    2010-2014 files were released on Feb. 16th, 2016.
    2009-2013 tract file released on Feb. 4th, 2015, county file released on March 16th, 2015.
    2008-2012 tract file released on March 14th, 2014, county file released on March 18th, 2014.

    I asked our Geography staff. There is no release date yet for the next file, but it will likely be in February or early March.

    Any chance this data can be released in open format(s) too, like .csv/.geojson?
