ACS Data Users Group

Is land area for places found anywhere in the ACS tables? I've been looking in 2017 and 2013-17 so far without success. If they are not in the ACS is there another Census source for current land areas?

I'm not sure if it's available in ACS (I don't think it is), but I believe it is in the Census TIGER files: www.census.gov/.../geography.html.

if you're using GIS it should be available as a field in the shapefiles or you can calculate it to get a reasonable estimate. There's also these tabular data by state that have land area as one of the fields - if you want total area though you'd have to add the land and water area (also in these tables). They are all by state:
tigerweb.geo.census.gov/.../TIGERweb_state_based_files.html

There may be better places to find it, of course.

If you don't want to use the GIS approach, MABLE GEOCORR has land area as weighting variable (which is displayed on the resulting table).
