  • 1.  Difference in elderly households counts in tables S0103 & B11007?

    Posted 03-11-2020 03:36 PM

I'm trying to understand why these two tables would present different counts for 65+ households.

In looking at statistics for Cambridge, Massachusetts:

    • Table B11007 lists 10,013 "households with one or more people 65 years and over"
    • Table S0103 lists 9,248 households in the "65 years and over" field

My best guess would be that table S0103 actually refers to a count of householders who are 65+ y.o., but I can't seem to find the documentation to confirm this. Does anyone have a better understanding of this discrepancy?

    Thank you!

    Hi Bailey,
You are correct. The first table provides an estimate of households that include persons age 65 and older while the second table includes an estimate of householders who are age 65 or older.
