    Hi,

I am writing a master's thesis for which I need data from ACS/Census and I am having trouble to find figures beyond a certain level of detail. Just to give you an example, I need the figures on foreign-born population over the last 10 years by country and year. I found data by region (Europe, Asia,...), but not by country. I thought I could find this in via FTP (https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/acs/data/data-via-ftp.html) but I cannot figure out where to find the whole set of data for a given year and how to navigate that information by topic.

I know this data exist as MPI has produced tables based on them: https://www.migrationpolicy.org/programs/data-hub/us-immigration-trends#source

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Julio

Hi Julio. The PUMS microdata provides detailed linguistic and ancestry data. www.census.gov/.../pums.html. The spatial resolution is lower than the tabular ACS data, but you can gain a great deal in terms of detail. I hope this might be of some help to you.
