I wanted to ask the community: What are some things about the navigating federal data system you wish you knew earlier? Or something that clicked once you understood the background.
For me, I stopped getting distracted by state level FIPS codes numbering skips, once I learned that the system was developed in the 60s and some numbers "are reserved for possible future use in identifying American Samoa (03), Canal Zone (07), Guam (14), Puerto Rico (43), and Virgin Islands (52)."
In a similar vein, the moderator team posted a blog about the federal register earlier this month.
