PRB Is Developing an Online Community for ACS Data Users on the Federal Data Forum

By Mark Mather posted 09-12-2025 10:23 AM

Since 2013, PRB has maintained an American Community Survey (ACS) Data Users Group Online Community  in partnership with the U.S. Census Bureau. Over the past 12 years, the site has grown into a lively online forum with more than 7,000 members, who share information about ACS data, issues, resources, and events.

We recently learned that PRB’s funding for this project will not be renewed. As a result, the ACS Online Community will shut down on September 30.  Although our partnership with the Census Bureau is ending, we will continue to engage with ACS data users. PRB is currently developing a new “microsite” for ACS data users on our Federal Data Forum website.  We’re still working on the details, but we hope to launch the new online community by the end of this year. We’re also exploring options for migrating content and users from the old site to the new platform. We’ll provide updates on our progress in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, we hope many of you will join the Federal Data Forum, where you can share information about the U.S. federal statistical system, including current threats to census data access and quality.

PRB is committed to building coalitions to improve access to public data and ensuring that trusted information sources remain accurate, available, and used for the common good.

Thank you for your support.

Thanks @David Dorer. We have typically organized the ACS Conferences every other year, so an event in 2026 would be unlikely. It's too soon to say what might happen in 2027.

Dear Mark,

Thanks to you, Beth and others  at PRB for saving the day.  ACS DUG is such a valuable resource for ACS users from the new beginner to the highly advanced user.   Is there still going to be an annual virtual ACS user conference?  Hope that you are making plans.  Dave Dorer, Dorer Community Service Foundation.
