  • 1.  Data-Related Executive Orders

Is anyone aware of a resource where data-related Executive Orders are being tracked? This week I was taking a look at the Wildfire Response EO and noticed that it includes a few data-related provisions, including:

    • Directing AG to "develop a comprehensive technology roadmap, in consultation with the Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), to increase wildfire firefighting capabilities at the State and local levels, including through artificial intelligence, data sharing, innovative modeling and mapping capabilities, and technology to identify wildland fire ignitions and weather forecasts to inform response and evacuation;" and
    • Directing DOD to "in consultation with the Director of OSTP, the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, and the heads of relevant agencies, shall, as appropriate, identify, declassify, and make publicly available historical satellite datasets that will advance wildfire prevention and response and improve wildfire prediction and evaluation models."

It made me curious about whether I'd missed data provisions that were tucked away in other Executive Orders.  I've seen a few trackers that monitor EO's related to other fields or that monitor every EO, but haven't seen one focused on data yet.  Any guidance would be very welcome!

    Best,

    Meghan,

I'm not aware of such a resource but share this one: an April 28 EO had this line, "increase the investment in and collection, distribution, and uniformity of crime data across jurisdictions". https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/04/strengthening-and-unleashing-americas-law-enforcement-to-pursue-criminals-and-protect-innocent-citizens/

It'd have been nice if the FY26 BJS request had reflected this instead of proposing the BJS budget be cut.
