  • 1.  PRB Is Developing an Online Community for ACS Data Users on the Federal Data Forum

    PRB recently learned that the ACS Online Community will shut down on September 30. For the past 12 years we have maintained this site in partnership with the U.S. Census Bureau, and it has grown into a lively online forum with more than 7,000 members, who share information about ACS data, issues, resources, and events.

    Although our partnership with the Census Bureau is ending, we'll continue to engage with ACS data users. PRB is currently developing a new "microsite" for ACS data users on our Federal Data Forum website.  We're still working on the details, but we hope to launch the new online community by the end of this year. We're also exploring options for migrating content and users from the old site to the new platform. We'll provide updates on our progress in the coming weeks.

    @Cliff Cook Yes, we're working on a content migration plan for Discussion Forum posts. It may take some time because we need to work with a third party to convert this information into a format that is recognized by the new platform.

    So glad to see PRB's initiative here.  Data users are [unfortunately] likely to have to develop new communication networks, and PRB and this forum look to me like they're creating the model.
