  • 1.  Preserving government information: a call to action

    Posted 6 hours ago
    Greetings Fed Data Forum folks,

At the public data project meeting at Harvard Law Library in February, I brought up the idea of a manifesto/call to action. Over the last couple of months culminating with the Internet Archive's Information Stewardship Forum last month (blog writeup url below), my colleague Jim Jacobs (yes there are 2 of us!) and I fleshed out the manifesto/call to action and have posted it online at https://publicinformationtrust.org/

At this point we're gathering organizational and individual signatories. I hope it will resonate with you all and that you'll add your names to the growing list of folks on board. And if it makes sense to you, it'd be great if you'd amplify its reach by forwarding it to others who might be interested.

Out of this call to action, we're hoping to create a community steering committee of sorts to bring together all of the various projects focused on preserving government information and data. So stay tuned for more.

    Best,

    James Jacobs
