  • 1.  American Community Survey Updates

    In case you missed yesterday's American Community Survey Data (ACS) Users conference, there were two key updates that I found notable.

    The 2025 survey includes 3 new questions (data available fall 2026) on:
    🔵 Sewer
    🔵 Electric vehicles
    🔵 Solar panels

    And ACS is still on track for implementing updated race/ethnicity standards in 2027 (These are the "SPD15" standards, for those who have been tracking the issue.) Those data would be available beginning in 2028.

    Did they mention the sexual orientation work at all?

    I do not recall any mention of the sexual orientation research. I welcome others to chime in if there was something I missed.

    Thanks for these very helpful updates!  I've been worrying that SPD 15 might not get implemented.  I posted a separate thread yesterday titled "I Implementation of race and ethnicity data standards in SPD 15 by Census Bureau" to see if there might be additional reassurance to be had.
